Do I need any qualifications before doing the EWP over 11m course?
No specific prior qualifications are required. You need to be 18 years or older, have basic English literacy, and bring three forms of eligible evidence of identity (EOI).
What does the EWP Licence over 11m cover?
The TLILIC0005 licence covers the operation of boom-type elevating work platforms with a boom length of 11 metres or more. This includes telescoping, hinged, articulated or combination boom-type EWPs – commonly known as boom lifts or knuckle booms. It is a nationally recognised High Risk Work Licence class WP, mandatory for operating these machines in Australia.
What is the difference between TLILIC0005 and RIIHAN301E?
The TLILIC0005 is a High-Risk Work Licence required by law for boom-type EWPs 11 metres or more, while the RIIHAN301E unit is a nationally recognised unit for scissor lifts and smaller boom lifts under 11m. It is important to note that a High-Risk Work Licence (TLILIC0005) does not permit you to operate equipment under 11m; you must hold the specific RII unit for those machines. Is there a fee to apply for my High Risk Work Licence after the course?
Yes – after successfully completing the course, you apply directly to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) for your HRWL. There is an additional government fee payable to WHSQ for the licence application. You must apply within 60 days of completing your assessment with Ascent Training Solutions.
