Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is an independent industry-funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices and career seekers in the building and construction industry. CSQ provides a range of subsidised training programs to reduce the cost of training for employers and employees.

As a Registered Training Supplier, we provide the training and skill development for workers in the building and construction industry through a range of programs to suit your needs. For further information on each program please see below.

SHORT COURSES – Civil and Building Program

Industry short courses and high risk work licences (HRWL)

The Short Courses programs through CSQ provide funding to assist with upskilling and cross skilling existing workers in the building and construction industry. Short Courses are individual competencies and skills sets designed to provide flexible solutions to workers wanting to update their skills and knowledge in specific and targeted areas.

In this contract term (October 2022 – September 2024), Eligible Participants can only undertake eight (8) units of competency in total under the Short Courses Program (which includes both Building and Civil). Within the eight (8) units of competency the following limits also apply:

  • Participants can only undertake 3 High Risk Work Licences.
  • Participants can only undertake 3 Mobile Plant Units.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?

Eligible Participant means;

  • A participant who has the right to work in Australia and is an Eligible Worker or Unemployed Eligible Worker in Queensland.

And must NOT be;

  • An employee of an authority (employees of Local Councils are acceptable)
  • Currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program (school based Apprentices or Trainees are acceptable)
  • A contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of an RTO
  • Already funded for the same Training being undertaken as part of this Program
  • Funded by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same Training being undertaken as part of this Program
  • Undertaking more than eight (8) units of competencies in the Short Courses Program, including no more than three (3) HRWL and no more than three (3) MPO Units
  • Those participants seeking a Verification of Competency (or determination of competency) services under this agreement)

Maximum of eight (8) units of competency in total, can be completed under the Short Courses Program (which includes both Building and Civil)

  • Maximum of three (3) High Risk Work Licence Courses can be funded by CSQ
  • Maximum of three (3) MPO Courses can be funded by CSQ

SKILLS ASSESSMENT & GAP TRAINING – Civil and Building Programs

The SAGT programs provide training and assessment services to enable existing workers and new entrants to have their skills and experience recognised, and to access gap training required to obtain a nationally recognised building and construction qualification.

 

Under the funding programs, Ascent Training Solutions will identify the skills you already have, and provide the gap training you need to attain a nationally recognised qualification. Students must be able to demonstrate 70% or more recognition of prior learning (RPL).

 

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?

Eligible Participant means;

  • A participant who has the right to work in Australia and is an Eligible Worker or Unemployed Eligible Worker in Queensland.

And MUST;

  • Be able to demonstrate RPL Experience in seventy percent (70%) or more competencies required to complete the full qualification.

And must NOT be;

  • an Apprentice or Trainee
  • through direct credit, achieve more than fifty percent (50%) of the minimum number of units required to complete the qualification
  • An employee of any authority (employees of Local Councils are acceptable)
  • Currently enrolled and participating in another CSQ SAGT or Higher Qualifications Program in the same contract term, with the exception of the Certificate III Waterproofing
  • currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program
  • a contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of an RTO
  • funded by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same Training being undertaken as part of this Program
  • Those participants seeking a Verification of Competency (or determination of competency) services under this agreement)

HIGHER QUALIFICATIONS – Civil Program

The Higher Level Skills program is targeted to existing workers in the building and construction industry to assist in career development and is designed to help you gain new skills and knowledge.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?

Eligible Participant means;

  • A participant who has the right to work in Australia and is an Eligible Worker or Unemployed Eligible Worker in Queensland.
    Note: for this program, an eligible worker can include relevant clerical, administration and professional staff whose Employer is part of the Building and Construction Industry.

And ;

  • If an Apprentice or Trainee, Participants must have completed at least 50% of their Registered Training Plan for their Apprenticeship or Traineeship.

And must NOT be;

  • An employee of any authority (employees of Local Councils are acceptable)
  • currently enrolled and participating in another CSQ Higher Qualifications or SAGT Program in the same contract term
  • Signed into a traineeship for the same qualification either prior to, or during the contract term, with the exception of the Civil Qualification RII40720
  • currently enrolled and participating in a Queensland secondary school program
  • a contracted trainer or assessor or existing worker of an RTO
  • funded by an Authority or such other source for delivery of the same Training being undertaken as part of this Program
  • Those participants seeking a Verification of Competency (or determination of competency) services under this agreement)
