Course overview
The forklift course is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate a forklift truck safely and effectively, to the standards set by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland. This training ensures that participants gain the necessary skills and knowledge to operate a forklift safely and efficiently in various work environments.
Participants will learn the fundamental principles of forklift operation, including, but not limited to, safety procedures, equipment familiarisation, use of controls, operating techniques, load management, communication skills, emergency procedures, maintenance and inspection, and regulatory compliance.
By the end of the course, participants will have demonstrated competency in operating a Forklift Truck safely and efficiently.
Delivery of this course is completed face-to face with a mix of classroom-based theory training and hands on practical training.
To be eligible for this course, participants must be 18 years of age or older and have basic English literacy (reading and writing). Three forms of eligible ID are required at enrolment, on the first day of your course, and on the day of assessment. Acceptable forms of ID are outlined here.

Where can I get my Forklift Ticket in Brisbane?
Ascent Training Solutions delivers the Forklift (LF) Ticket at our purpose-built training facility in Richlands, Brisbane. Our TLILIC0003 course is a nationally recognized unit. You can view the full curriculum and assessment requirements on Training.gov.au here . We offer flexible 3-day standard courses and weekend training options. Please note that the weekend course requires study at home before attending.
Do I need any prior experience to do the Forklift course?
No prior forklift experience is required. You need to be 18 years or older, have basic English literacy, and bring three forms of eligible evidence of identity (EOI). Training is delivered face-to-face with both theory and hands-on practical components.
What types of forklifts does this licence cover?
The TLILIC0003 licence covers the operation of powered industrial trucks equipped with a mast and an elevating load carriage. This includes counterbalance forklifts (sit-down and stand-up) and Reach Trucks. Please note: A Class LF High Risk Work Licence does not cover Telehandlers (Telescopic Handlers). Operating a telehandler safely and legally requires a specific competency. Ascent Training Solutions offers the nationally recognized unit RIIHAN309F Conduct telescopic materials handler operations for this equipment.
Is CSQ funding available for the Forklift course?
No, the Forklift (LF) course is not eligible for Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) funding and is available as a full-fee course only. Our standard 3-day weekday course is $596.00 and we offer a discounted 2-day weekend course for $495.00.
Is there a fee to apply for my High Risk Work Licence after the course?
Yes – after successfully completing the course, you apply directly to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) for your HRWL. There is an additional government fee payable to WHSQ for the licence application. You must apply within 60 days of completing your assessment with Ascent Training Solutions.
