Roller ticket course overview
The nationally recognised roller operations course is designed to equipt participants with the comprehensive skillset needed to operate a roller in industry. This ticket will open up opportunities for employment, in the civil construction, mining, and landscape construction industries.
The course covers a wide range of topics to ensure participants are well-prepared for the diverse demands of operating a roller. Learn risk management, control procedures, technical operation , maintenance and how to operate the machine in a variety of work conditions.
The skills and knowledge gained from this course will ensure that participants can operate rollers safely and efficiently, contributing to the success of their projects and the safety of their workplace
Verification of Competency (VoC) courses also available.
Delivery of this course is completed face-to face with a mix of classroom-based theory training and hands on practical training.

What does the Roller Operations course cover?
The Roller Operations course (RIIMPO317F) covers the safe operation of a roller for compaction work on civil construction and road projects. You’ll learn how to conduct pre-operational checks, operate the roller to compact a range of materials, work safely in traffic and around other plant, and complete post-operational shutdown procedures. Training is competency-based and includes both theory and practical components.
Do I need a licence to operate a Roller?
No High Risk Work Licence is required to operate a roller. However, you must hold a recognised unit of competency – RIIMPO317F – to demonstrate you can operate the machine safely and in line with industry standards. Most employers and principal contractors require this as a minimum before allowing unsupervised operation on site.
What do I receive on completion of the Roller Operations course?
On successful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment for RIIMPO317F issued by Ascent Training Solutions, along with an operator card. These are your proof of competency and what you’ll present to employers and site supervisors.
