Where can I get my Confined Spaces ticket in Brisbane?
Ascent Training Solutions delivers the Confined Spaces course at our purpose-built training facility in Richlands, Brisbane. The course is delivered as a cluster of two nationally recognised units, RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces and MSMWHS217 Gas test atmospheres. You can view the full unit details on Training.gov.au – Confined Spaces and Gas Testing.
Are there any prerequisites for the Confined Spaces & Gas Testing course?
No prior experience or qualifications are required for the full one-day course. If you are booking the half-day refresher course, you must provide a Statement of Attainment or USI Transcript confirming prior completion of these units (or its successor unit) before attending.
What does the Confined Spaces & Gas Testing course cover?
The course covers two nationally recognised units: RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces and MSMWHS217 Gas test atmospheres. You’ll learn how to work safely in enclosed or restricted spaces such as tanks, pits, vessels and ducts – identifying hazards, understanding entry permits and safe work procedures, and responding to emergencies including rescue. You’ll also learn how to use gas detection equipment to test an atmosphere and interpret the results. Training includes both theory and practical components, and all study materials are provided on the day.
Why is gas testing included in the Confined Spaces course?
Before anyone enters a confined space, the atmosphere has to be tested for oxygen levels and for flammable or toxic gases, and it often needs to be monitored while work continues. Delivering Gas test atmospheres (MSMWHS217) alongside Confined Spaces means you can carry out that testing yourself, which is why the two units are now run together as a single clustered course.
What do I receive once I complete the Confined Spaces course?
On successful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment for both units issued by Ascent Training Solutions, along with a Confined Spaces operator card. The Statement of Attainment is your formal proof of competency and is the document you’ll present to employers and principal contractors.
