Our nationally recognized dozer course will give you the knowledge and skills to operate a dozer in the civil construction industry. The training will allow you to work with the heavier aspects of earth moving such as earthworks in the civil or mining industries. Completing this course could see you working on high rise construction projects to pushing stockpiles in quarries.

Our trainers and assessors will ensure you are site ready and have the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently undertake work in a range of working environments.

Our nationally recognized Dozer course is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely operate a dozer within the civil construction industry.

At Ascent Training Solutions, we provide a detailed training plan for students in a small class environment and in some cases one-on-one. This gives you the maximum amount of time with our highly qualified trainers to ensure you get hands-on real-world skills to meet the highest standards of safety and compliance in the construction industry.

The training in its current form meets the criteria of the unit of competency requirements.

Dozers, also known as bulldozers are a heavy duty machine similar to a tractor, equipped with a blade at the front and in most cases have a claw like a tool attached to the rear. The blade is used to move large quantities of materials such as sand and soil whereas the claw on the back is for loosening compacted materials. There are many different types of dozers available depending on the task to be undertaken including crawler dozers, wheeled dozers and mini dozers in Brisbane, the latter suited best for residential construction.

This unit of competency will provide you with the necessary training on how to plan a job, operate a dozer and conduct operational and shutdown checks, select and fit appropriate attachments for the specified job, relocation and maintenance of the dozer and keeping a clean worksite.

The training will be taught by our highly qualified trainers at Ascent Training Solutions at our onsite training facility in Brisbane through written and practical teachings. The course content will cover the following;

  • Documentation of dozer operations in compliance with appropriate standards and procedures.
  • How to operate a dozer and understanding their limitations and capabilities.
  • Hazards, risks and environmental issues and measures used to control them.
  • Personal protective equipment.
  • Traffic management plans including relevant signage.
  • Operational before and after checks for the dozer.
  • Effective communication in the workplace.
  • Isolation procedures when reporting defective equipment.

On successful completion of this course, applicants will have the ability to demonstrate the following;

  • Comply with relevant Australian standards, codes of practice and site-specific instructions.
  • Conduct before and after checks of the dozer.
  • Identify potential hazards and apply safe work practices.
  • Ability to select and fit the appropriate attachments for various jobs.
  • Complete tasks efficiently such as spreading topsoil, stockpiling, cutting drains, backfilling and other civil construction duties.
  • Safe working load and earthworks calculations
  • Various communication techniques necessary for the efficient completion of a job.

On successful completion of this course, Ascent Training Solutions will issue you with a nationally recognized Statement of Attainment and operator card that will allow you to safely operate a dozer in a variety of work environments.

Our highly skilled and knowledgeable trainers at Ascent Training Solutions will give you the support and guidance required to gain employment across numerous sectors including construction and mining.

Depending on prior knowledge and experience, our courses are run over 2 - 5-days involving high-quality face to face and logbook training.

Onsite training and assessing is available at your company location, however, in such cases, we would conduct an inspection of the equipment that will be used to ensure the safety and conditions of the equipment is ideal for on-site training and meets the requirements for assessment.

The full course fee is to be paid prior to the commencement of formal assessment.

All payments can be made using Direct Debit, Visa, or Mastercard. In the case of a failed payment or dishonored transaction, the enrolment of the candidate will be suspended. In such cases, you can seek a transfer to another course.

  • Personalized wallet sized Operators Card with the unit of competency listed
  • Industry knowledge and skills to operate a dozer.

Subsidies are available for eligible candidates through Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ). CSQ is an independent industry-funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices and career seekers in the building and construction industry.
