Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question about the C0 Crane course? Find your answer below.

Where can I get my C0 Slewing Crane Ticket in Brisbane?

Ascent Training Solutions delivers the TLILIC0020 Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane – over 100 tonnes (C0) Ticket at our purpose-built training facility in Richlands, Brisbane. Our C0 course is a nationally recognised unit. You can view the full curriculum and assessment requirements on Training.gov.au here.

What are the prerequisites for the C0 Slewing Crane course?

No prior experience or specific prior qualifications are required for the C0 Slewing Crane course. You need to be 18 years or older, have basic English literacy, and bring three forms of eligible evidence of identity (EOI). Your High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) assessment is held on the final day of the course.

What does the C0 Slewing Crane Licence allow me to operate?

The C0 High Risk Work Licence allows you to operate slewing mobile cranes with a Maximum Rated Capacity (MRC) of over 100 tonnes — the highest class available. It is also an encompassing licence, meaning your C0 automatically covers you to operate every slewing mobile crane class below it: C1 (up to 100 tonnes), C6 (up to 60 tonnes) and C2 (up to 20 tonnes), as well as vehicle loading cranes (CV), non-slewing mobile cranes over 3 tonnes (CN) and reach stackers (RS). You effectively get seven licence classes in one, making it the most comprehensive crane licence available.

What is the difference between C2, C6, C1 and C0 crane licences?

The licence classes relate to the Maximum Rated Capacity (MRC) of the crane. C2 covers slewing mobile cranes up to 20 tonnes, C6 covers up to 60 tonnes, C1 covers up to 100 tonnes, and C0 covers over 100 tonnes. Each higher class also encompasses the classes below it, so a C0 holder can operate everything a C1, C6 or C2 holder can. Ascent Training Solutions recommends the C6 as the best entry point for most new crane operators, with the C0 being the top class for experienced operators working on the largest cranes.

Is there a government fee to apply for my C0 crane licence after the course?

Yes – after successfully completing the course, you apply directly to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) for your HRWL. There is an additional government fee payable to WHSQ for the licence application. You must apply within 60 days of completing your assessment with Ascent Training Solutions.
