Our gantry or overhead crane course is a nationally recognised one-day course that gives participants the skills and knowledge to safely operate a gantry or overhead crane. It is designed for operators working with simple gantry or overhead cranes that have three or fewer powered movements, such as those used across manufacturing, warehousing, workshops and industrial sites.
Training covers pre-operational inspections, safe set-up, identifying hazards and assessing risks, load handling and slinging, communication methods including hand and whistle signals, moving and landing loads, and shutting down and securing the crane on completion.
This unit provides competency to operate simple gantry or overhead cranes and does not require a High Risk Work Licence. Operators who need to work with more complex bridge and gantry cranes – those with a cabin or more than three powered movements – require a CB Class High Risk Work Licence. See our Bridge and Gantry Crane Course.
Delivery of this course is completed face-to-face with a mix of classroom-based theory training and hands-on practical training.
