Excavator ticket overview
The nationally recognised excavator operations course has been developed and designed to provide each participant with comprehensive knowledge and the skillset needed to operate an excavator, safely and successfully in the civil construction industry. The training will also a qualify you for earthmoving roles in mining and agriculture industries.
Ensuring each participant is prepared for the diverse demands of operating an excavator, you will learn risk management, control procedures, attachment 101, maintenance and how to drive the machine safely and effectively in a variety of work conditions. The skills and knowledge gained from this course will ensure that participants can operate excavators safely and efficiently, contributing to the success of each projects and the safety of the workplace.
Verification of Competency (VOC) courses also available.
Delivery of this course is completed face-to face with a mix of classroom-based theory training and hands on practical training.

What does the Excavator course cover?
The Excavator course (RIIMPO320F) covers the safe and efficient operation of a civil construction excavator. You’ll learn how to conduct pre-operational checks, operate the excavator to perform trenching, grading, and loading tasks, work safely around underground services, and complete post-operational procedures. Training is competency based and includes both theory and practical components.
Do I need a licence to operate an excavator?
No High Risk Work Licence is required to operate an excavator. However, you must hold a recognised unit of competency — RIIMPO320F — to demonstrate you can operate the machine safely and in line with industry standards. Most employers and principal contractors will require evidence of this competency before allowing you to operate on site.
What do I receive on completion of the Excavator course?
On successful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment for RIIMPO320F issued by Ascent Training Solutions, along with an operator card. These are your proof of competency and what you’ll present to employers and site supervisors.
