Course overview

The Intermediate Rigging course is designed to enhance participants existing rigging skills and knowledge, providing them with further techniques and competency required for a broader range of rigging tasks across various industries. This includes but is not limited to the rigging of cranes, conveyors, tilt slabs, dual lifts, demolition work, dredges, and excavators.

Throughout the Intermediate Rigging course, participants will engage in hands-on practical exercises, simulations, and case studies to reinforce their learning and develop their proficiency in intermediate rigging techniques.

By the end of the course, participants will have expanded their rigging skill set, enabling them to tackle a wider range of rigging tasks with confidence and competence, essential for obtaining relevant licensing and advancing their careers in the rigging industry.

Delivery of this course is completed face-to face with a mix of classroom-based theory training and hands on practical training.

To be eligible for this course, participants must be 18 years of age or older and have basic English literacy (reading and writing). Three forms of eligible ID are required at enrolment, on the first day of your course, and on the day of assessment. Acceptable forms of ID are outlined here.

Where can I get my Intermediate Rigging Ticket in Brisbane?

Ascent Training Solutions delivers the Intermediate Rigging (RI) Ticket at our purpose-built training facility in Richlands, Brisbane. Our CPCCLRG3002 course is a nationally recognized unit. You can view the full curriculum and assessment requirements on Training.gov.au here.

What are the prerequisites for the Intermediate Rigging course?

Rigging Basic is a mandatory prerequisite. This requirement may be met by either the successful completion of the unit CPCCLRG3001 Licence to perform rigging basic level or holding a valid RB licence. You need to be 18 years or older, have basic English literacy, and bring three forms of eligible evidence of identity (EOI).

What extra skills does Intermediate Rigging give me over Basic?

Intermediate Rigging builds on Basic to include tilt slab rigging, dual crane lifts, demolition rigging of structures and plant, erection and dismantling of all types of hoists and cranes including conveyors, dredges and excavators. It qualifies you for a wider range of complex construction and industrial rigging operations.

Can I progress to Advanced Rigging after completing Intermediate?

Yes – CPCCLRG3002 Licence to perform rigging intermediate level is the prerequisite for CPCCLRG4001 Licence to perform rigging advanced level. Once you hold your Intermediate Rigging HRWL you can enrol in Advanced Rigging.

Is there a fee to apply for my High Risk Work Licence after the course?

Yes – after successfully completing the course, you apply directly to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) for your HRWL. There is an additional government fee payable to WHSQ for the licence application. You must apply within 60 days of completing your assessment with Ascent Training Solutions.
