Course overview

The Basic Scaffolding course provides participants with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to safely and effectively erect, alter, and dismantle scaffolding structures. The course covers a range of scaffolding techniques and equipment commonly used in construction and maintenance projects such as erecting, altering and dismantling scaffolding, cantilevered material hoists, modular or prefabricated scaffolds, static lines, bracket scaffolds (tank and formwork), ropes, gin wheels and safety nets

On successful completion of the Basic Scaffolding course, participants will be eligible to obtain an SB High-Risk Work Licence class, allowing them to perform scaffolding work at a basic level in compliance with regulatory requirements. The course emphasises practical hands-on training, safety awareness, and adherence to industry best practices to ensure that participants can safely and competently carry out scaffolding tasks in various work environments.

Delivery of this course is completed face-to face with a mix of classroom-based theory training and hands on practical training.

To be eligible for this course, participants must be 18 years of age or older and have basic English literacy (reading and writing). Three forms of eligible ID are required at enrolment, on the first day of your course, and on the day of assessment. Acceptable forms of ID are outlined here.

Do I need any experience or qualifications before doing Basic Scaffolding?

No prior scaffolding experience or specific prior qualifications are required for the Basic Scaffolding course. You must be 18 years or older, have basic English literacy, and bring three forms of eligible evidence of identity (EOI). Study materials are provided on the day.

What does the Basic Scaffolding course cover?

The Basic Scaffolding course (CPCCLSF2001) covers the skills and knowledge required to safely erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding at a basic level. This includes planning the work, selecting and inspecting plant and equipment, erecting modular and frame scaffolding systems, and complying with WHS legislation for scaffolding work. Training is face-to-face with theory and hands-on practical components.

Can I progress to Intermediate Scaffolding after completing Basic?

Yes – CPCCLSF2001 Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding basic level is the prerequisite for CPCCLSF3001 Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding intermediate level. Once you hold your Basic Scaffolding HRWL you can enrol in Intermediate Scaffolding.

Is there a fee to apply for my High Risk Work Licence after the course?

Yes – after successfully completing the course, you apply directly to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) for your HRWL. There is an additional government fee payable to WHSQ for the licence application. You must apply within 60 days of completing your assessment with Ascent Training Solutions.
