Course overview

The Basic Scaffolding course provides participants with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to safely and effectively erect, alter, and dismantle scaffolding structures. The course covers a range of scaffolding techniques and equipment commonly used in construction and maintenance projects such as erecting, altering and dismantling scaffolding, cantilevered material hoists, modular or prefabricated scaffolds, static lines, bracket scaffolds (tank and formwork), ropes, gin wheels and safety nets

On successful completion of the Basic Scaffolding course, participants will be eligible to obtain an SB High-Risk Work Licence class, allowing them to perform scaffolding work at a basic level in compliance with regulatory requirements. The course emphasises practical hands-on training, safety awareness, and adherence to industry best practices to ensure that participants can safely and competently carry out scaffolding tasks in various work environments.

Delivery of this course is completed face-to face with a mix of classroom-based theory training and hands on practical training.

To be eligible for this course, participants must be 18 years of age or older and have basic English literacy (reading and writing). Three forms of eligible ID are required at enrolment, on the first day of your course, and on the day of assessment. Acceptable forms of ID are outlined here.

Where can I get my Basic Scaffolding Ticket in Brisbane?

Ascent Training Solutions delivers the Basic Scaffolding Ticket at our purpose-built training facility in Richlands, Brisbane. Our CPCCLSF2001 course is a nationally recognized unit. You can view the full curriculum and assessment requirements on Training.gov.au here.

Do I need any experience or qualifications before doing Basic Scaffolding?

No prior scaffolding experience or specific prior qualifications are required for the Basic Scaffolding course. You must be 18 years or older, have basic English literacy, and bring three forms of eligible evidence of identity (EOI). Study materials are provided on the day.

What does the Basic Scaffolding course cover?

The Basic Scaffolding course (CPCCLSF2001) covers the skills and knowledge required to safely erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding at a basic level. This includes planning the work, selecting and inspecting plant and equipment, erecting modular and frame scaffolding systems, and complying with WHS legislation for scaffolding work. Training is face-to-face with theory and hands-on practical components.

Can I progress to Intermediate Scaffolding after completing Basic?

Yes – CPCCLSF2001 Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding basic level is the prerequisite for CPCCLSF3001 Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding intermediate level. Once you hold your Basic Scaffolding HRWL you can enrol in Intermediate Scaffolding.

Is there a fee to apply for my High Risk Work Licence after the course?

Yes – after successfully completing the course, you apply directly to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) for your HRWL. There is an additional government fee payable to WHSQ for the licence application. You must apply within 60 days of completing your assessment with Ascent Training Solutions.

I recently completed training with Accent Training Solutions, and it was honestly one of the best RTO experiences I’ve had. The facilities are brand new and purpose-built, which makes a big difference when you’re trying to focus and get the most out of the course. The team were extremely friendly and approachable, and they went out of their way to make sure I fully understood everything being taught. They didn’t just rush through the material—they took the time to ensure everyone was confident and competent. The trainers are a great bunch of guys who all work really well together, which creates a positive and easy-going learning environment. We had constant showers of rain throughout the week, which meant the lads stayed back and made sure everything still got covered properly. It really showed their professionalism and commitment. I passed the Dogmans, C6 (60 tonne slew crane) Dozer, Roller and Tele handler course's/ tickets recently. The Training and assessment team on-site are brilliant. The course's are conducted in a safe, educational and fun way. The staff have fair but firm control over trainee groups in both theory and practical lessons. Highly recommended by me. Great staff here. They are very friendly helpful and experienced. Great facilities and equipment. I have just completed my vehicle loading crane and dog man courses. My tutors Robbie (vehicle loading crane) and Mark and Gerry (Dogman) were awesome they made the whole experience worthwhile. Their skills knowledge and industry experience made the learning interesting and achievable. Big thanks to those guys. The onsite accommodation is also good comfortable and great value for money. I had the privilege to sit my dogman ticket at Ascent training. Was under the tutelage of Theo and Irish Mark for theory and practical. At first glance the theory assessment was daunting and intimidating but with Theo’s tutoring and knowledge also mixed with his awesome people skills and being able to relate the questions to scenarios or situations that were easier to understand and answer made the theory side of the course a lot easier than expected. Theo also took time during classes to help guide the students who weren’t ‘book’ learners. Theo doing that made the students who struggled understand easier and were able to grasp a hold of the course. Irish Mark was awesome his enthusiasm when out on the floor was great but also his ability to teach the class in a calmer way that we understood easier. If any of us were struggling in each way Mark was able to give us little ‘tips and tricks’ that we could try and made it easier to understand in our own way. I also came across Jerry who was helping instruct with our practical dogman course. Jerry was also awesome and was able to also give tips and tricks that made it easier to grasp the concepts of what we were struggling with at the time. Theo, Irish Mark and Jerry. Absolutely appreciate and am really grateful to have crossed paths and been under your guys wings the last week. Kevin, top facilities and awesome compound. Highly recommended.

The trainers l had, being Theo, Mark and Gavin are very good at their craft and very passionate about what they do and how they go about engaging the students and proudly representing Ascent Training Solutions.
