INDUSTRY FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR SELECTED COURSES*

Rigging is the process used in securing materials to be moved by cranes, hoists and various other lifting equipment. When securing a load with slings or chains, there are many factors to be considered. These may include the working load limit of the hoisting equipment, the weight of the load and rigging equipment, and the capacity of the hoist.

It is vital that workers involved in rigging activities are trained in both the safety and operating procedures as most accidents occur due to the lack of training of the rigger.

Our rigging courses cover the basic, intermediate and advanced levels of rigging and are all designed to give you the appropriate skills and knowledge to complete various jobs on the work site.

The operation of our Rigging courses cover various aspects that include, but are not limited to;

  • Knowledge and principles relating to plant and equipment stability
  • Ability to work safely at heights
  • Knowledge and understanding of the types and functions of rigging, safety and equipment
  • Calculation of Safe workload and working load limits
  • Risk assessment and control

Basic Rigging involves the movement of plant and equipment, steel erections, hoists, placement of pre-cast concrete, safety nets and static lines, perimeter safety screens and shutters, and cantilever crane loading platforms. A current class DG High-Risk Work Licence is required as a pre-requisite for this course.

  • CPCCLRG3001 Licence to perform rigging basic level

Intermediate Rigging builds on your basic rigging course along with the rigging of cranes, conveyors, dredges and excavators, rigging associated with tilt slabs and demolition work, and dual lifts. A current class RB High-Risk Work Licence are required as a pre-requisite for this course.

  • CPCCLRG3002 Licence to perform rigging intermediate level

Advanced Rigging includes work at the basic and intermediate levels, along with the rigging of gin poles and shear legs, flying foxes and cable ways, guyed derricks and structures, and suspended and hung scaffolds. A current class RI High-Risk Work Licence are required as a pre-requisite for this course.

  • CPCCLRG4001 Licence to perform rigging advanced level

On successful completion of our nationally recognized rigging course, you will gain the complex skills necessary to work with a variety of loads and lifting equipment throughout the rigging industry. A Statement of Attainment will be issued where you will be eligible to apply for an HRWL license through Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ).

Our courses are delivered onsite at our training facility in training facility in Richlands, Brisbane. with classroom-based theory learning, supported by practical skills training and scenario-based practical knowledge using a range of methods to support you through your course.

RIGGING (Basic – Intermediate – Advanced)

Our Rigging Courses are nationally recognised that will give you the knowledge and skills to safely construct framework in different working environments. Build up from basic to advanced levels and get more complex skills.

Our Rigging Courses cover outcomes required to perform basic, intermediate and advanced rigging work associated with movement of plant and equipment, steel erections, hoists (including mast climbing hoists), placement of pre-cast concrete, safety nets and static lines, slinging techniques, including the selection and inspection of lifting gear and/or the directing of the crane operator in the movement of the load when the load is out of view of the crane, rigging of gin poles, flying foxes and cableways, fabricated hung scaffolds and cantilever crane loading platforms for licensing purposes.
